Prunus × yedoensis
120th Anniversary of the Establishment of Hiroshima Municipal Administration Commemorative Project
2009-2011
These cherry trees were planted by the Peace Memorial Park Tree Planting Iki-iki Volunteers to mark the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Hiroshima municipal administration and to make Peace Memorial Park lush with trees and plant life befitting a sanctuary of peace.
The Prunus x yedoensis cherry trees were grafted from trees that were exposed to the atomic bomb on the grounds of Hiroshima City Hall.
