Reason for Donation

In August 1977, Hiroshima was gifted two varieties of roses, Träumerei and Scherzo, by the City of Hamilton, Canada. That same year, the City of Fukuyama and the City of Hamilton concluded a sister city agreement. There is a possibility that the City of Hiroshima received these roses to mark the friendship between those two cities; however, the details are unclear.
