Reason for Donation
This Acer saccharum sugar maple tree was planted by representatives of the City of Montreal to commemorate their friendship with the City of Hiroshima when they attended the 2nd World Conference of Mayors for Peace through Inter-city Solidarity. Representatives planted two trees in the garden of the International Conference Center Hiroshima: a cherry blossom tree for Japan’s national flower and this sugar maple as a symbol of Canada.
