Butia yatay
Hiroshima Printing Industry Association
October 1965
This Butia yatay palm tree was planted to commemorate the 14th Printing Culture Exhibition held in Hiroshima from October 15 to 19, 1965. This exhibition, sponsored by the Printers Association of Japan, introduced cutting-edge developments in printing equipment, as well as advancements in printing techniques. It was held across a variety of venues in central Hiroshima, including the Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center, Chugoku Shimbun Office Building, Peace Memorial Hall, and Hiroshima Municipal Auditorium. Large-scale commemorative events were held during the five days, such as a parade in front of the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims by a youth Fife and Drum Corps comprised of 300 elementary school students .
