During an European project about Paper and the Questions Behind we came along the old art of Origami. We found Sadako's story and could enthuse the children of our partner schools in the whole of Europe, in Poland, Estonia, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Holland, Scotland and of course in our school in Berlin. We all folded cranes, made exhibitions in our schools and gathered in December 2017 in Berlin for a celebration at the Berlin-Wall-Museum and the Chapel of Reconciliation. We luckily rose the interest of ICAN, the then Peace Nobel Prize winner who sent a word of greetings. We translated it in our native languages, read it out and distributed paper cranes and our little booklet we made to passers by and tourists.

We would love to have some of our paper cranes hung up at the Memorial for Sadako and also hand out some of the little booklets telling the story.
The booklets are printed on Stonepaper which contains 20% of recyclable plastic and 80% of milled stone. It does not use any water or trees to be produced and recycled.
We hope that our friends Dieter and Robert will be able to hand out the cranes and leaflets and take some photos in front of Sadako's memorial. That would be a great signal for all our children

Darussafaka High School was founded in 1863 and it is a unique school in Turkey.
Darussafaka is a non-governmental, boarding school. It is run by donations. Our mission is to provide "Equality in Education". Children who have lost their father or mother and who have limited financial resources get a chance to study at Darussafaka after passing a competitive exam after 4th grade. We are 10th graders in this school. This year, my 30 other friends and I started to do a Project about giving art lessons to 1st graders who don't have any art classes. We have been teaching them since October. In one of our classes, we taught them 'Japanese origami art' and 'Sadako Sasaki's' life. Then, we decided to do make one thousand origami cranes and we made them.
We wish children without means to survive could have access to food, health care and with toys that they could enjoy. At the same time our biggest wish is for Shiho Shimazaki who is a friend of our 12th grader sister, Define. We really hope that she will get well soon.
