1. Removal of Unattended Bikes
1-1 About the policy
Bikes (Note 1) left unattended (Note 2) in public spaces (Note 3) will be removed in accordance with City ordinances pertaining to illegal bike parking.

Bikes refer to bicycles, motorized bicycles, and motorcycles
- (Note 2)
- Bikes will be considered unattended if
- they are parked in public spaces for an uninterrupted period without just cause
- the owner/user is not within its vicinity and cannot immediately move it
- (Note 3)
- Public spaces refer to areas accessible to everyone, such as roads, parks, green spaces, etc., but exclude bike parking lots

*Bikes that are not removed by the City may still be subject to police disposal (includes removal by police officers) under the Road Traffic Act.
Contact your nearest police station if you witness bikes, especially motorcycles, impede traffic flow.
(1) Unattended bikes left in public spaces within No Parking Zones (Refer to the maps below)
Bikes will be removed and kept under custody if the owner/user is considered to be absent after an order to move the vehicle to an appropriate location, which involves announcements about bike removal through loudspeakers, followed by the tagging of each unattended vehicle with a notice of removal, has been issued.
(2) Unattended bikes left in public spaces outside of No Parking Zones
Bikes that are left unattended for seven days after being tagged and considered to be abandoned will be removed and kept under custody.

The City will not remove bikes from private properties. Please contact the relevant property owners for bike removals.
1-3 Maps of No Parking Zones
Downtown Hiroshima, areas around major train stations, and other particularly crowded areas where bikes are frequently left unattended are designated as No Parking Zones. We are stepping up efforts to prevent bikes from being left unattended in No Parking Zones by setting up municipal bike parking lots and frequently removing unattended bikes.

1-4 Impound Bike Search
You can check on the status of impounded bikes. Search by date/location of removal, anti-theft registration number, or from a list of bike colors and make. Check the following site for more information.
*Anti-theft registration numbers and vehicle identification numbers are checked visually and may result in minor discrepancies. If you believe you have found your bike through the search, please contact the Hiroshima City Seibu Bike Impound Lot.(Phone: 082-277-7916)

- Motorized bicycles (up to 50cc)
- 4,400 yen

- 5,500 yen
*Bikes will be kept for up to one month, after which the City will dispose of them.
