H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, visited Hiroshima to attend the Peace Memorial Ceremony.
On the previous day, August 5, Secretary-General Ban met with Mayor Akiba.
After the ceremony, the Secretary-General visited the Peace Memorial Museum and listened to an A-bomb survivor's testimony.
Later Mr. Ban made a speech in front of citizens after being presented with the title of Hiroshima City Special Honorary Citizenship, and had a dialogue with representatives from A-bomb survivors associations. He also visited the Monument in Memory of the Korean Victims of the A-bomb and offered flowers; Att Funairi High School he participated in an event for exchanging peace-related opinions with students.
H.E. Mr. Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited Hiroshima to attend the Peace Memorial Ceremony on August 6, 2010.
H.E. Mr. Joseph Deiss, President of the 65th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, visited the Peace Memorial Museum and offered a flower wreath at the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims, escorted by Deputy Mayor Miyake on October 28, 2010.
Later that day, he listened to an A-bomb survivor's testimony and offered flowers at the Monument in Memory of Dr. Marcel Junod.
H.E. Mr. Tibor Toth, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), visited Hiroshima to attend the 2010 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates on November 12, 2010.
