Restricted Smoking Zones

The Hiroshima City Ordinance Relating to the Prevention of Littering, Etc., defines restricted smoking zones as areas where it is especially necessary to prevent the act of smoking from causing harmful health effects to others. Smoking in public outdoor areas located within a restricted smoking zone in the absence of ashtrays installed by the administrator of said public area is strictly prohibited.

Restricted smoking zones currently include the area around Hiroshima Station, Kamiya-cho, and Hatchobori, as well as Hiroshima Castle, Chūo Park, and Peace Memorial Park, among other locations in the city center.
