Presidents/Speakers of National Parliaments in FY2016

H.E. Mr. László Kövér, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, visited the Peace Memorial Museum, listened to an A-bomb survivor’s testomony, and offered a flower wreath at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims on May 16, 2016.

Speaker Kövér also met with Mayor Matsui.

H.E. Ms. Laura Boldrini, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, visited Hiroshima and met with Mayor Matsui on September 5, 2016.

Prior to the meeting, President Boldrini visited the Peace Memorial Museum privately.

H.E. Mr. Raphaël COMTE, President of the Council of States, Swiss Confederation, visited Hiroshima and met with Mayor Matsui on November 4, 2016.

Prior to the meeting, President Comte visited the Peace Memorial Museum, offered a flower wreath at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, and listened to an A-bomb survivor's testimony.

Hon. Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi, Speaker of the National Assembly of Kenya, visited the Peace Memorial Museum, and offered a flower wreath at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, escorted by Mayor Matsui on November 12, 2016.

H.E. Mr. Galust SAHAKYAN, President of National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia visited the Peace Memorial Museum and offered flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims on February 1, 2017. Following the visit, President Sahakyan met with Mayor Matsui at the City Hall.

H.E. Mr. Siegfried BRACKE, President of the Chamber of Representatives of the Kingdom of Belgium, visited the Peace Memorial Museum and listened to an A-bomb survivor's testimony on March 2, 2017. Later the president offered flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, ecorted by Mayor Matsui in the rain.

H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasser bin Saif Al-MAAWALI, Chairman of Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman, visited the Peace Memorial Museum and offered flowers at the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, guided by Chairperson Komizo of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation on March 17, 2017. Following the visit, Chairman Al-Maawali met with Mayor Matsui at the City Hall.
