Montreal Day 2019

Montreal Day 2019 celebrations were held in Fukuya’s Hiroshima-eki-mae Store on Saturday, July 7.

The day began with a maple water and a Hiroshima City Minaga-en original maple rusk tasting session, followed by a commemorative ceremony where event organizers and representatives from the Quebec Government Office in Tokyo addressed the audience, and a message from the mayor of Montreal was presented. 

Following, Hiroshima Messengers Yamamoto Chikara and Iimura Tokuho introduced life in Montreal and the city’s culture while quizzing audiences about their knowledge of our sister city. Jazz singer Hisaka gave a commemorative performance which was met with enthusiastic applause.

Other events included an exciting raffle with specialty products, such as maple syrup, up for grabs, as well as an exhibition introducing Montreal and Canada, and specialty product exhibitions and sales booths.

Approximately 250 participants deepened their understanding of Montreal and Canada while enjoying delicious food and exciting culture and art.
