Medical expense benefits will be allotted to hibakusha living abroad who have received necessary medical treatments in their country of residence. Hibakusha may apply for medical expense support for up to 300,000 yen/year using simplified procedures.

 Eligibility Criteria

  1. If applying for medical expense benefits, the applicant must be a hibakusha living abroad who has received their Atomic Bomb Survivor’s Certificate.
  2. If applying for the Medical Expense Support Program, the applicant must be a hibakusha living abroad who (a) has received their Atomic Bomb Survivor’s Certificate or Statements of Recognition for Situation with Regard to the Atomic Bombing and (b) would like support for medical expenses paid for necessary treatments received at medical facilities in their country of residence and has been deemed eligible to receive medical expense support by Hiroshima Prefecture or Nagasaki Prefecture

Note: Those who have Health Check Certificates or Area Relation Confirmation Certificate (法附則区域関係確認証//Hōfusoku Kuiki Kankei Kakunin-shō) are not eligible for these support programs.
