Beginning in November 30, 2005, atomic bomb survivors (hibakusha; one who has been issued an atomic bomb survivor’s certificate) living abroad can submit applications for allowances without having to visit Japan. The same applies to applying for financial assistance for the funeral of a hibakusha who has passed away. For details, please see the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare website.
