Letter of Protest

Dear Mr. Ambassador:

Amid ever stronger criticism from countries throughout the world, your country once again has carried out a nuclear weapons test. On behalf of the citizens of Hiroshima, the first atomic bombed city in the world, I angrily protest.

At a time when a peaceful world free of nuclear weapons is called for, your country's aim to increase the strength of your nuclear arsenal is a betrayal of the international community. I hereby demand an immediate and comprehensive halt to your nuclear weapons testing in the South Pacific.

Takashi Hiraoka
Mayor
The City of Hiroshima
