Product name Kawajiri Traditional Craft Calligraphy Brush Gikō
Product description
One of a kind and never mass produced, a triumph of tradition and technique passed down from one generation to the next
Third-generation master Kawajiri brush craftsman, Yoshiyuki Hata, carries on traditional craft techniques passed down from his father, and creates brushes from start to finish -- a process with over 70 steps. Currently, his son and fourth-generation master Koso Hata is training in the ways of brushmaking. In the 1970s, Yoshiyuki Hata traveled to the Yangtze River region of China to hand-select the hair of wild male goats to use in brushmaking. More than 50 years later, he continues to use this rare hair to create brushes that are soft, but still have body and bounce. These brushes create works like no other with flexible tips allowing for smooth and fluid writing. Praised by artists the world over, Kawajiri brushes are used by artists who won't settle for anything less than the best.
