Inspired by the sun and moon carvings on the east and west sides of the Great Torī Gate of the Itsukushima Shrine, the Moon baumkuchen is moist and tender, using eggs and rice flour made in Hiroshima Prefecture. Contrastly, the Sun baumkuchen is dense and springy, using Hiroshima lemons known for their refreshing citrus tang, and baked to resemble the sun and its rays. Packaging has been approved by the Itsukushima Shrine.
