Karuga Eggplants are elegant light green eggplants that have been raised by exemplary farmers for their own needs for over 40 years in the countryside town of Karuga-cho in Asakita Ward, 30 minutes from Hiroshima City on the Geibi Line. Using a blend of traditional cultivation techniques and modern specifically-cultivated crop management, Karuga Eggplants are known for their smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture, as well as their high-level of food safety. 

Having won countless competitions, these eggplants have impeccable flavor, earning a regional collective trademark by the Japan Patent Office as a brand name vegetable that proudly bears the name of its countryside home.
