The following COVID-19 services have changed as of April 1, 2024. Please note that the following information is subject to change in the future.

Changes to Medical Fees

Items Until March 31, 2024 Beginning April 1, 2024
Medical fees for outpatient treatment
  • Continuing government support for fees while requiring a standard copayment
  • The limit for copayment amounts will vary depending on your copayment percentage for medical fees:
    • ¥3,000 yen for those paying 10% copayments
    • ¥6,000 yen for those paying 20% copayments
    • ¥9,000 yen for those paying 30% copayments
Note: you will not incur drug costs for the following treatments purchased by the government and provided to hospitals for free: Xevudy, Ronapreve, Evusheld.

Government support no longer offered: copayments will be determined based on your usual health insurance (High-Cost Medical Expense system will be avaliable as with other illnesses)
Medical fees for hospitalization

Co-pay amount for High-Cost Medical Expenses will be reduced by 10,000 yen for hospitalization fees for COVID-19 treatment until the end of September (if the amount is less than 10,000 yen, then it shall be reduced)

Government support no longer offered: copayments will be determined based on your usual health insurance (High-Cost Medical Expense system will be avaliable as with other illnesses)
