On February 18, 2022, the Government of Japan re-extended the period of implementation for the Semi-State of Emergency to end on March 6. The same day, the Hiroshima Prefectural Government made the decision to implement [Re-extended] Intensive COVID-19 Infection Prevention Measures Under Semi-State of Emergency.
In Hiroshima City, we continue to see a high level of infection (e.g., case numbers) compared to the rest of the prefecture. As such, we have decided to maintain the current level of measures until the Semi-State of Emergency is lifted, or level of infection meets the Prefectural Government's guidelines* for its lifting. As of February 21, 2022, we have revised our events and facilities guidelines as follows and extended their implementation to end on March 6.
*Prefectural Government guidelines: Approximately 100-150 newly reported cases in the past week in Hiroshima City per 100,000 people with no resurgence of cases
Events and gatherings organized by the City of Hiroshima will be cancelled or postponed. However, events and gatherings that must be held during this period and are difficult to reschedule will comply with Requirements for Holding Events in Hiroshima Prefecture (in force from January 11, 2022), while implementing thorough infection prevention measures.
We ask that all citizens and private entities organizing events and gatherings adhere to these guidelines as well.
*"Event" is defined as a one-time performance or similar aimed at securing an indeterminate large number of participants by reservation, ticketing, time slots, or another method, and includes those held by Hiroshima City public interest corporations.
