COVID-19 vaccinations will be conducted in two ways: individual vaccinations administered by medical institutions and group vaccinations administered at vaccination sites run by the City of Hiroshima.
You MUST make an appointment in advance to receive your vaccination.
You will need your vaccination coupon when making your appointment. Coupons will be sent to the address on your Resident Record when your vaccination period approaches. For information on when your coupon will be sent, please see the Vaccination Schedule page. If you lose your vaccination coupon, you can apply for it to be reissued via the national government’s vaccination website COVID-19 Vaccine Navi<外部リンク> (Japanese).
*Your vaccination coupon and questionnaire will be sent to the address on your Resident Record when your vaccination period approaches. Caretakers may accompany those who require assistance at group vaccination sites; assistance dogs (hearing dogs, service dogs, guide dogs, etc) may also accompany those who need them.
Individual vaccinations will be conducted at medical institutions such as hospitals and clinics.
Below you will find information for medical institutions offering vaccinations (Japanese).
Please not that you may not be able to make an appointment depending on the situation at the medical institution. Please inquire at the medical institution of your choice for more information.
You can find the latest information for medical institutions offering vaccines and their appointment schedules on the national government’s vaccination website COVID-19 Vaccine Navi<外部リンク> (Japanese).
Please contact the medical institution providing the vaccine directly to make your appointment.
Note: if making an appointment via telephone, please only call during the appointment hours listed for each medical institution (check the lists above for appointment hours for each medical institution).
From the standpoints of (1) securing proper explanations to parents/guardians, (2) vaccination peer pressure, (3) attentive handling of any changes to health post-vaccination, the national government does not recommend vaccinations at group sites for children.
The Japan Pediatric Society has also stated that individual vaccinations at medical institutions are preferred as they are predicated on the full understanding of the merits and demerits of vaccinating healthy children on the part of the parent/guardian, as well as the ability to provide attentive care to the child before, during, and after vaccination.
As such, the City of Hiroshima also recommends that children who will be vaccinated receive their vaccine at their regular doctor (please consult with them for more information).
Please note that vaccination is not mandatory; only those who want to be vaccinated will receive their vaccine. There are also those who cannot be vaccinated due to health conditions. Do NOT discriminate or bully others based on whether or not they are vaccinated.
As a rule, parents/guardians MUST accompany children younger than 16 during their vaccination.
However, for children in junior high school or above, it is possible to receive your vaccine without parental/guardian accompaniment if your pre-vaccination questionnaire is signed by your parent/guardian in the appropriate box (to be confirmed at reception).
In addition, on the day of vaccination, it is necessary to inform the medical institution of the contact information for the child’s parent/guardian so that the doctor can contact them to confirm what is written on the pre-vaccination questionnaire of the child to be vaccinated.
When pregnant women contract COVID-19, those in the latter stages of their pregnancy are especially at risk for developing a severe case and run a high risk of early labor. As such, in cooperation with city medical associations and obstetrician and gynecological associations, the City of Hiroshima is working to promote the prompt vaccination of expecting mothers and their spouses.
Please consult with your regular doctor about whether vaccination is possible.
Please be sure to bring your Maternal and Child Health Handbook with you on the day of vaccination.
Group vaccination sites will be set up by the City of Hiroshima at commercial venues.
Please make your appointment through the Appointment Call Center or Online Appointment System.
