Participating Pharmacies

For a list of participating pharmacies, click here<外部リンク> (Japanese). You can also look for the PCR testing kit banners outside of participating pharmacies!

Note: Please be sure to bring your testing kit to the pharmacy you got it from.

Testing Process

Receive your PCR testing kit at your local pharmacy, then collect and submit your sample on collection day.

When you receive your kit, please be sure to make an appointment to submit your sample. On the day of your appointment, collect your saliva sample at home and bring it back to the pharmacy you made your reservation at by 1 pm.

Step 1: Check participating pharmacies

Check the list of participating pharmacies linked above.

Step 2: Receive your kit at one of the participating pharmacies

Visit your local participating pharmacy and receive your testing kit and questionnaire, then make an appointment to submit your kit. A member of staff will instruct you on how to collect your saliva sample.

  • You can receive and submit kits for your entire family at once (limited to those who live with you). For those with physical disabilities, you can have a helper receive your kit on your behalf.
  • When receiving your kit, we will require something that proves your current address (driver’s license, public utilities receipt, etc). Be sure to bring it with you when you visit the pharmacy.
  • To ensure an accurate count of the number of tests performed, we ask that you refrain from making an appointment for the same day as you received your testing kit.

Collection days vary depending on ward. See above table for details.

Step 3: Sample collection and submission

On the day of your appointment, fill out the questionnaire at home and collect your saliva sample. Afterwards, submit your sample and completed questionnaire to your local pharmacy by 1 pm.

Notes on sample collection:

  • Do NOT eat/drink, gargle, brush your teeth, or smoke AT LEAST 30 minutes prior to collecting your sample.
  • If you have a fever or other symptoms, do NOT go to the pharmacy.
  • If there will be a gap from when you collect your sample to when you submit it, please keep your sample in the refrigerator.

Be prepared in the event that you test positive: should you test positive, you will be required to stay at a hotel for about 8 nights. Make sure that you discuss plans with your family and those living with you so that you will have someone to take care of children, elderly family members, and pets in your absence. Please note that your hotel quarantine is completely free of charge, including cost of food.

Step 4: Notification of results

As a rule, we will ONLY call those who test positive. In the event that you test positive, we will contact you after 6 pm following the day of your test. The call will come from our office at the following number; please be sure to pick up the phone.

  • 050-1741-7480

Those who test positive will be contacted by their local health center with further instructions.

We will NOT call those who are negative. Once we have contacted those who tested positive, the following information will be posted on the Hiroshima Prefectural Government website<外部リンク>; those who have not been contacted by the time this information is posted have tested negative.

  • Ex) We have finished contacting all COVID-19 positive patients from the MM DD, 2021 test batch.

All those who tested positive should prepare to be quarantined at a hotel.

Those contacted via telephone regarding their positive result will be quarantined in a hotel for at least 8 nights beginning the day after they are contacted (2 days after their test). Please bring things you will need for your quarantine, such as phone chargers, daily medications, etc.

Hotel Quarantine (for those who tested positive ONLY)

  • 2 days after your test: you will be given a medical exam and taken to a hotel via hired car (arranged by your local health center).
  • 2-9 days after your test: you will complete a thorough epidemiological survey conducted by the health center and receive medical exams by the quarantine hotel medical staff.
  • 10 days after your test: if you develop no symptoms, your 10-day monitoring period will end and you will be let out of quarantine.
