The City of Hiroshima will provide information from the national government regarding the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine and observed side effects and is working to ensure that we alleviate concerns citizens may have about the vaccine so that they will feel comfortable being vaccinated.
One shipment (doses for 485 people) will be delivered during the week of April 5, 2021, and we expect that beginning the week of April 26, shipments will be delivered in stages. Based on this information, we have made the following decisions:
The first round of vaccinations (doses for 485 people) shall be conducted as a trial for the system for large-scale vaccinations to come. The system trial vaccinations shall be conducted in two ways: group vaccinations conducted by the City of Hiroshima, and private vaccinations conducted by medical institutions. They shall be held at a small number of venues and we will examine issues that arise with the appointment system, venue management, vaccine delivery, vaccination record management, etc.
Only those selected for the system trial will receive their vaccination slip in the mail early. As a rule, those selected must make a vaccination appointment through the appointment system by themselves.
