Guidelines for Events Organized by the City of Hiroshima and Temporary Closures of Facilities During the Intensive Infection Prevention Measures Period for Hiroshima Prefecture and Hiroshima City

Since the end of November, cases of COVID-19 have been occurring in Hiroshima City in every situation in everyday life, including dining out, at the workplace, and at home. As those who have been infected in these situations then go on to spread infection to others, infections have been rising rapidly, and there is every possibility that this will put a severe strain on our medical care systems.

Until this point, the City of Hiroshima has carried out infection prevention measures which aimed not only to stop the spread of infection, but also to keep socio-economic activity moving. However, as it has been deemed that the number of new infections in Hiroshima City is approaching Level 4, we have decided that in order to put a stop to this emergent crisis, it is necessary to take measures which put priority on stopping the spread of infection in cooperation with the Prefecture.

Thus, in order to reduce the risk of infection and person-to-person contact in places where large numbers of people gather, events and gatherings organized by the City of Hiroshima as well as the temporary closure of municipal facilities between December 12 to January 3 will be managed in the following ways, based on the Intensive COVID-19 Infection Prevention Measures for Hiroshima Prefecture and Hiroshima City.

Events and Gatherings Organized by the City of Hiroshima*

Events and gatherings organized by the City of Hiroshima will be cancelled or postponed. However, events and gatherings that must be held during the intensive measures period and that are difficult to reschedule will be held in strict adherence to the infection prevention measures described in the Standard Guidelines for Events and Gatherings Organized by the City of Hiroshima (revised 11/30/2020).

We ask that all citizens and private entities organizing events and gatherings adhere to these guidelines as well.

*Includes events held by Hiroshima City public interest corporations.

Temporary Closures for Facilities in Hiroshima City

Municipal facilities where large numbers of people are expected to gather will be closed as immediately as possible. However, during the intensive measures period, use of some facilities is allowed for those with prior permission and for whom cancellation (etc) is difficult.
