The City of Hiroshima has worked to appeal for the abolition of nuclear weapons and the realization of lasting world peace based on our experience of the atomic bombing in 1945. However, there still exist around 12,000 nuclear warheads on earth, and the danger of further prolifiration and use of these weapons is growing. Under these critical circumstances, in order to fulfill our role as an A-bombed city, our city is proactively promoting various initiatives towards the realization of nuclear abolition and lasting world peace.
